MVPW-05 Live Results: Johnson vs. Thorslund, Round by Round
The Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando hosted a night of championship boxing at MVPW 05, headlined by Dina Thorslund taking every belt from Cherneka Johnson with a 100-90 sweep to become undisputed bantamweight world champion. The co-main delivered a second changing of the guard, as two-time Olympian Tamm Thibeault shut out Desley Robinson to claim the IBF, WBO and Ring middleweight titles in only her fifth professional fight. Amanda Galle bounced back from her lone career loss by closing the distance on former IBF champion Shurretta Metcalf for a clear decision at 115 pounds, while Krystal Rosado opened the main card with a shutout of Alondra Hernandez. The prelims kept the perfect records coming: Jan Paul Rivera moved to 16-0 over veteran Ruben Garcia, Dainier Pero broke Aleem Whitfield down to the body and retained his WBA Continental USA heavyweight title in three rounds, Sa’rai Brown-El came through a bruising six-rounder with Sheyla Moreno, and Angelo Hernandez and Sebastian Juarez both stayed unbeaten on the cards. Jadden Addison needed just one round again, stopping Dionne Ruvalcaba at 2:27 to open a memorable night in Orlando.

Result: Dina Thoursland def. Cherneka Johnson via unanimous decision (100-90 x3) to win the undisputed bantamweight championship
Thorslund brought the pressure from the first bell and simply outworked the champion for 10 straight rounds, stringing together combinations while Johnson fought in single and double shots. A flush right hand in the fourth and another that snapped Johnson’s head back in the fifth marked the turn, and by the ninth Johnson was bloodied and still being beaten to the punch. All three judges scored it 100-90. Thorslund moves to 25-0 and completes the run she was set to make a year ago before pregnancy forced her out of the original fight with Johnson.
Desley Robinson vs. Tamm Thibeault
Unified World Championship / 160 lbs / 10 Rounds
Result: Tammara Thibeault def. Desley Robinson via unanimous decision (100-90 x3) to become IBF, WBO, and The Ring women’s middleweight world champion
Thibeault took over from the opening round and never gave it back, using her reach and a punishing left hand to trap Robinson on the ropes fight after fight. She had the champion wobbled in the second, third and fifth, and by halfway through Robinson was fighting with a bloody nose and no clear way in. Robinson found some success in the sixth and eighth, but all three judges scored it a shutout at 100-90. Thibeault becomes a unified world champion in just her fifth professional bout.
Shurretta Metcalf vs. Amanda Galle
Jr. Bantamweight Bout / 115 lbs / 8 Rounds
Result: Amanda Galle def. Shurretta Metcalf via unanimous decision (78-74, 80-72 x2)
Giving up 10 inches of reach, Galle spent the night closing the distance and beating Metcalf to the punch on the inside. She took over from the fourth round on, backing the former IBF bantamweight champion up with combinations and rocking her with a right hand in the fifth. Galle moves to 13-1-1 in her first outing at 115 pounds, with her only career loss still the undisputed title fight against Cherneka Johnson last December.
Krystal Rosado vs. Alondra Hernandez
Bantamweight Bout / 118 lbs / 8 Rounds
Result: Krystal Rosado def. Alondra Hernandez via unanimous decision (80-72 x3)

MVPW-05 Prelim Results
Jan Paul Rivera vs. Ruben Garcia
Jr. Lightweight Bout / 130 lbs / 8 Rounds
Result: Jan Paul Rivera def. Ruben Garcia via unanimous decision (80-72, 79-73 x2)
Rivera set the terms early with his jab and never gave the ground back, mixing straight shots upstairs with steady body work across all eight rounds. Garcia, the most experienced fighter on the card, had success working the body in the middle rounds, but he could not slow the volume coming back at him. Rivera moves to 16-0 and closes out the prelims with the widest card reading 80-72.
Dainier Pero vs. Aleem Whitfield
Heavyweight Bout / 200+ lbs / 10 Rounds
Result: Dainier Pero def. Aleem Whitfield via third-round TKO (2:20)
Pero was in control from the opening bell, using his size to back Whitfield up and hammer the body round after round. Whitfield had almost no answer, and by the third he was being cornered and hit at will until the referee waved it off. Pero moves to 14-0 with his 11th knockout and retains the WBA Continental USA heavyweight title.
Sa’Rai Brown-El vs. Sheyla Moreno
Jr. Flyweight Bout / 108 lbs / 6 Rounds
Result: Sa’rai Brown-El def. Sheyla Moreno via unanimous decision (59-54, 60-53, 58-55)
Brown-El used her speed and range to catch Moreno coming forward all night, countering with clean right hands and mixing in body work. The fight turned rough in the middle rounds, with both fighters marked up and the referee repeatedly warning them for leading with the head, and Moreno was docked a point in the fifth for the same offense. Brown-El improves to 2-0 after debuting at MVPW 04 in June.
Angelo Hernandez vs. Jose Fernandez
Featherweight Bout / 126 lbs / 4 Rounds
Result: Angelo Hernandez def. Jose Fernandez via unanimous decision (40-36, 39-37 x2)
The bad blood between the two showed early, with a headbutt and repeated warnings from the referee inside the opening rounds. Hernandez was the busier and cleaner puncher throughout, working combinations to the body and head, and survived a rough patch in the third when Fernandez hurt him along the ropes. Hernandez moves to 2-0, and the two rivals embraced at the final bell.
Sebastian Juarez vs. Rance Ward
Middleweight Bout / 160 lbs / 6 Rounds
Result: Sebastian Juarez def. Rance Ward via unanimous decision (60-54 x3)
Juarez stayed perfect at 12-0 in a scrappy six-rounder that spent long stretches in the clinch. Ward had his moments behind the jab and a sharp uppercut in the fifth, but Juarez controlled the exchanges inside, worked the body consistently and closed each round strong. All three judges gave him every round at 60-54.
Jadden Addison vs. Dionne Ruvalcaba
Lightweight Bout / 135 lbs / 4 Rounds
Result: Jadden Addison def. Dionne Ruvalcaba via first-round TKO (2:27)
Addison dropped Ruvalcaba with a right hand midway through the opening round and never let him settle. A left hand had Ruvalcaba wobbled again moments later, and when he stumbled back into the ropes under a sustained attack, the referee stepped in. It is the second straight first-round stoppage for Addison, who needed just 64 seconds to beat Zavier Davis at MVPW 04 in June.
