Serrano vs Tellez

Amanda Serrano made it look easy — and that’s kind of the problem for everyone else at featherweight.

On January 3rd, in front of her home crowd in Puerto Rico, Serrano stopped Reina Tellez via unanimous decision to retain her unified WBA, WBO, and IBO titles. Tellez came in as a late replacement for Erika Cruz, and couldn’t even make weight — so the belts were never really on the line for her. But Serrano fought like they were.

She pressed from the opening bell, relentless and precise, giving Tellez no room to breathe. Credit where it’s due: Tellez didn’t fold. She took the pressure, kept moving, and showed more heart than most expected. Still, it wasn’t enough. It was rarely close.

Serrano walked out of San Juan still unified, still undisputed in her dominance — and still waiting for a fight that truly tests her.
