MVPW-05: Tamm Thibeault Dethrones Desley Robinson
Desley Robinson competed for the inaugural IBF women’s light heavyweight title in 2023, falling just short. She rebounded, however, by conquering the women’s middleweight scene, picking up the IBF title in December 2024 and adding the WBO title in April 2025. She enters this fight off a successful defense against Mary Spencer at MVPW03 in May.

Tammara Thibeault had a decorated amateur career, winning gold in the Commonwealth Games and Pan-American Games, as well as becoming an amateur world champion at 70kgs. The two-time Olympian is 4-0 as a pro so far, and she now seeks to become a unified world champion. She last fought in September, scoring a sub-minute knockout of Cristina Mazzotta.

Will Robinson retain her gold again, or will Thibeault become a world champion?
ROUND 1
Both looking to establish the jab and take control early. Thibeault flashing the right jab. She misses a left straight. Robinson dancing on the outside. Thibeault lands on the chin early. Thibeault looking to use her reach to her advantage. Another left hand from Thibeault. Left hand to the body by Thibeault. The two exchanging, and Thibeault is overwhelming Robinson against the ropes. Right hand lands! Thibeault working combinations. Robinson is stuck against the ropes. A clinch, and Robinson survives for now. Robinson throws a right hand. She sees the bell, but that was a close call!

Thibeault takes the center and shows off the jab again. Thibeault lands on the body. Right hand by Thibeault. Robinson firing off the left hand. Left hand lands for Thibeault. Thibeault lands the jab. Robinson lands the left. Robinson misses with the right. Thibeault pressures Robinson to the ropes and lands again, wobbling Robinson in the closing seconds.
ROUND 3
Robinson working the left jab. Thibeault lands a solid left early. Another solid shot. Another left hand that wobbles Robinson! Thibeault is pressuring, trying to trouble Robinson again! Solid left again! And another. Straight from Robinson. Thibeault traps Robinson in a corner again. Shge lands another solid shot. We get a clinch. Left hand lands again. Solid shot upstairs. Another combination from Thibeault gets around Robinson’s jab. This bout has been all-Thibeault so far.
ROUND 4
Thibeault pressuring. Thibeault comes in and lands on Robinson, putting her back to the ropes. Robinson misses a combination. Left hand lands for Thibeault. Right hand by Thibeault. Thibeault lands another left hand. She’s tagging Robinson every time Robinson touches the ropes. An exchange between the two. Left hand catches Robinson coming in.
ROUND 5
Thibeault pressuring Robinson back into a corner, and the two are quickly separated. Hook lands for Thibeault. Robinson has a bloody nose now. Thibeault tags the nose again. Robinson misses a hook. Solid left hand cracks her again. Left hand snaps Robinson’s head back again. Solid left again, and Robinson goes down…no, it’s ruled a slip! Robinson is in some BIG trouble halfway through this fight.
ROUND 6
Robinson looks to come forward. Jabs from Robinson. Thibeault tries to come forward and the two slip to the mat. Robinson lands a right hand. Right straight lands for Robinson. Left hand lands for Thibeault. Left hand from Robinson. It’s giving Thibeault a little bit of trouble. Robinson catches Thibeault coming in. Left hand by Thibeault. Thibeault with a left hand to the face. Robinson backing Thibeault up now.
ROUND 7
The two circling in the center. Right jab lands for Thibeault. A combination lands for Thibeault. One-two by Robinson. Left hand by Thibeault. Thibeault lands a left hand on the inside. Thibeault works a combination. The left hand is giving Thibeault a lot of success. The two come forward, and we get an accidental clash of heads. The headbutt gives Thibeault a bloody nose. Time is called as a faucet of blood leaks from Thibeault’s nose. The round resumes with about 20 seconds remaining, and the two are firing to the bell!

Robinson is coming forward, looking to give more trouble to Thibeault. Robinson trying to get inside with her jab. Both land straights. Right hand by Thibeault. One-two by Thibeault. Another clinch. Left hand by Robinson, and now we have a clinch where Thibeault is the one with her back to the corner. Thibeault lands a right. Robinson lands a left and a clinch.
ROUND 9
An early clinch. Thibeault comes forward and we get another clinch against the ropes. Both women throws straights, and Thibeault lands despite backing up. Another clinch and another separation. Robinson tries to work a jab but eats a straight. Another clinch. Thibeault lands a solid left hand. Both women land in another clinch. One-two by Robinson. Robinson looks to come forward, but Thibeault clinches again.
ROUND 10
Thibeault pressures Robinson to the corner. Another clinch. And again. Uppercut lands for Thibeault. Left hand lands for Thibeault as Robinson tries to come forward. Another clinch. Left hand by Thibeault. Left hand lands downstairs for Robinson. An exchange with a little less than 50 seconds left. Right hand misses for Robinson. Another clinch. Left hand from Thibeault. Both land to the head before another clinch. One more left hand from Thibeault, who is about to become a world champion in just her fifth pro fight!
