MVPW02: Alycia Baumgardner keeps unified super featherweight gold with decision in entertaining brawl

Alycia Baumgardner has that all-around talented caliber – speedy footwork, speedy strikes, powerful strikes, strong counterpunching – that makes her one of the best female athletes in boxing. Baumgardner has been a champion since 2021, the year that saw her defeat Terri Harper to become WBC super featherweight champion. She’d eventually become undisputed champion of the weight division at one point, and she still holds the WBA, IBF, and WBO titles.

Bo Mi Re Shin is an effective puncher herself, and she will look to use technical skill to battle against Baumgardner’s pressure. Shin has held a number of regional titles, and she will now look to capture her first world championship with a major upset here tonight. Shin last fought in October, scoring a majority decision over Tywarna Campbell to capture the WBA Asia lightweight title.

But Shin is still wobbly. Baumgardner takes a step back and stays patient. Shin seems to have recovered now. Quick recovery! Quick left jab. A solid left hand and another strong combination!
