MVPW02: Pressure leads Elon Dejesus to decision victory

Elon Dejesus had a decorated amateur career, which includes a 2019 New York Golden Gloves title. A pro since 2020, “The Pride of Dunkirk” comes into tonight with an 11-2-1 record and eight knockout victories. He last fought in October, scoring a decision over Belmar Preciado.

A described “road warrior,” Connor Adaway trains out of the Intense ABC Plymouth gym. Adaway has eyes on him after coming up through the ranks, entering tonight with a 10-2-1 record. He last fought in November, scoring a seventh-round stoppage win over Carlos Jackson.

ROUND 1

Adaway landing solidly while working from the outside. Dejesus tries to get something going. He lands a left to the body, and Adaway goes down! Adaway makes it to his feet, but Dejesus is stalking now. Dejesus has a fire under him, looking for a strong finish. Adaway fighting back. Adaway works a body combination. Two clean shots from range by Dejesus. Hook by Dejesus. Left hand by Dejesus. Time out for a low blow. Uppercut by Dejesus. Dejesus with another one, but that’s a low blow now. Now both men have been hit low. Left hand by Dejesus. Left by Adaway, and a clinch. Adaway now has Dejesus in a corner, and the two are firing away. The two exchange in the closing seconds!
