MVPW 04: Tiara Brown Outworks Rapp to Defend WBC Title

Known as “The Dark Menace,” Tiara Brown has a blend of power, speed, and technical skill. She was a three-time USA Boxing Gold Medalist and earned gold and bronze at the IBA Women’s World Championship in 2012 and 2014, respectively. Brown is 20-0, having held the WBC featherweight title since March 2025.

Hannah Rapp is known for her technique, power, footwork; looking to be a “swiss army

knife” of boxers. A Purdue alumna, Rapp is 8-0-1, with five knockouts to her name. A former NABF featherweight champion, Rapp enters this title shot off an October win over Peggy Whitmore.

ROUND 1

Happ starts to flash the left hand. A one-two by Brown. Rapp with the right hand. Both fire off the left hand. Rapp looks to use her right hand but gets hit in the body by Brown’s left. Another left by Brown. A clinch, and Rapp lands on the inside. Brown lands a couple of punches to the body while getting pressed to the ropes. Rapp lands a couple of inside shots. Rapp tries it again but doesn’t get much off. Brown lands a left inside.

ROUND 2

Rapp goes inside again and tries to pressure. Brown with a right hand. Going inside again, and the ref pauses the action due to an accidental headbutt. More inside fighting – and it feels like it’ll be a lot of this throughout the matchup. Brown appears to land more on the inside. Rapp getting pressured by Brown in the corner, but Brown gets hit by an overhand.

ROUND 3

We get right back inside. Rapp is landing well to the body as the two battle in close again. Rapp with a right hand. Both land a straight. Brown trying to pressure. Left hand lands for Rapp. Brown lands a right. Left hand lands for Rapp. Brown trying to pressure Rapp to the ropes. Brown looking to land to the body. Rapp reverses the position and lands a combination to the body. The two exchanging in the closing seconds.

ROUND 4

Brown landing a couple of shots on the inside. A combination lands for Rapp on the stomach. Uppercut by Brown. Rapp landing a flurry to the stomach. Brown pressuring Rapp. Right hand by Brown. Right hand by Rapp, but Brown counters back. Right hand by Brown. One-two by Rapp, and Brown answers. Body shots from both women. Rapp with a combination. Brown lands a right hand to the body. Solid right hand upstairs for Brown.

ROUND 5

A couple of strong right hands for Brown. Brown pressuring, trying to get Rapp to a corner or the ropes. Both women landing inside. Both women landing combinations. Rapp lands to the body. Left hands land for Brown. Body shots connect for both. Uppercut by Brown. One-two by Rapp.  Right hand lands for Brown. Short left hook for Brown. Brown getting the better of the inside shots.

ROUND 6

The two exchanging early in the round. Left hand lands for Brown. Rapp trying to work the jab in close, but Brown is defending herself well. Body shots landing for both women. Right hand by Rapp. Brown lands a left hook. Rapp with a right hand. Brown with a body shot. Brown with another body shot. Left hand by Brown. Right hand by Rapp. Another right hand by Rapp. Brown with a combination. Right hand by Rapp. 

ROUND 7

We’re back to inside fighting, and Brown appears to have firm control over the action. Brown pressuring Rapp to the corner. Rapp looking to land body shots. Brown with a right hand to the body. Rapp with a couple of hooks before getting tied up. Left hand by Brown. Brown with a solid combination in close. Rapp landing to the body. Brown answers with some hooks that land. Rapp lands to the body. Right hand by Rapp.

ROUND 8

Rapp landing a couple of inside shots. Brown lands a right hand. Brown follows up with a couple of more. Brown landing combinations to the body. More tying up by the ropes. Brown landing in close. Brown with an uppercut. The two exchanged close. Brown with a combination. Right hand by Brown.

ROUND 9

Back to a tie up position. The two trading in close. Right hands from both women. Left hand by Rapp. Right hand by Brown. Rapp landing with Brown near the ropes. Brown with a right hand, then a left. Rapp lands to the body. Brown and Rapp trading in the closing seconds of the round.

ROUND 10

Left hand by Rapp. Brown with a right hand. Rapp throwing hooks. Rapp misses now, and Brown lands up the middle. Brown with a pair of hooks in the clinch. The two have to get separated. Time out is being called due to what appears to be a cut from a headbutt. Rapp is checked out quickly and the fight resumes. An exchange in close between the two. More position trading between the two. Both land inside shots in the closing seconds of the fight.
