Yesica Nery Plata fends off tough test, aiming to score another title shot
One of the most experienced fighters competing tonight, Yesica Nery Plata has tasted gold before, holding titles at both light flyweight and flyweight. Plata won the WBA light flyweight title by defeating Yésica Bopp in March 2022 and won the WBC title with a win over Kim Clavel in January 2023. After retaining the titles against Sarah Bormann, Plata went on to unsuccessfully challenge Lourdes Juárez for the WBC light flyweight title this past October.
Brook Sibrian comes into tonight’s bout with a 9-2 record and a four-fight win streak. In her most recent fight, Sibrian defeated Gloria Munguilla in December to capture the WBC International women’s flyweight championship, giving Sibrian her first professional boxing championship and allowing her to gain revenge from a loss.
